Between 95% and 97% of uranium fuel used in nuclear power plants can be recycled after reprocessing.
Similarly, reprocessed plutonium can also be used as fuel.
MOX fuel is made by mixing small amounts of reprocessed plutonium (4% to 9%) with uranium.
* MOX fuel stands for “Mixed Oxide” fuel (mixture of uranium and plutonium oxides)
** GNF-J designs MOX fuel and supplies relevant components. The manufacture of MOX fuel is subcontracted to a processing plant in Europe.
