Uranium fuels used in the nuclear power plants are reprocessed, and 95 to 97% of them can be utilized again. Plutonium produced in the reprocessing can be used like uranium fuels. The MOX fuels are the ones which consist of this plutonium (4 to 9% of the total fuel weight) and the base uranium as mixed from. ＊ MOX denotes Mixed Oxide fuels (uranium-plutonium mixed oxide fuels) ＊＊MOX fuel fabrication is commissioned to the overseas MOX manufacturing plants. |
